Sundara Yoga’s Amaru retreat is designed to redefine your health and sense of adventure. Join us for this blissful yoga getaway in the north of Nicaragua to reconnect to yourself and rejuvenate your mind, body, and soul.

Begin your day with a yoga practice in a beautiful open-air yoga shala, surrounded by lush nature. Spend the afternoon lounging on the beach or enjoying the many excursions. End your evening with a relaxing & soothing yoga practice. A blend of movement, rituals, nature, and community will leave you feeling energized, empowered, and refreshed.

Amaru

The name Amaru has its origins in the ancient Incan civilization, it represents a mythological double-headed serpent that stands for balance and transformation — often described as the connection between the earthly and spiritual realms.

Amaru is located in Northern Nicaragua and the property has 25 acres of land in a peninsular cliff that stretches out into the Pacific Ocean. The communal spaces are unlimited and ensure that you can always find space to expand your body, spirit, and mind.

AMARU’S ROOMS

Each room includes a private bathroom, 100% cotton linens, bath towels, AC, high-speed WIFI, and mosquito nets 
Daily housekeeping services are provided.

Surfing in Northern Nicaragua

Surfing the Boom isn’t for everyone but Amaru Surf School is perfect for those who are new to surfing or have limited experience.
Our instructions are designed to establish a solid foundation. The highly experienced instructors will guide you through the basics, and teach you how to paddle, pop up, and catch a wave.

Yoga Shala

Hidden in the Canopy of the Banyan trees, the Yoga Shala is a sanctuary of peace and tranquility. The Shala also offers a cool breeze and a panoramic view of the ocean and the soothing sound of waves crashing. Our Yoga practice aims to unify breath with movement through healing asanas and intentional meditation.

  • The goal of Amaru’s kitchen is to live primarily from their garden. They follow the Permaculture principles of working with nature so they can serve you fresh, local, family-style meals.

    The food is always prepared with the highest intention to complement the environment & local community. Any dietary needs can always be accommodated.

  • How far is Amaru from the airport?

    Amaru is located 3-3.5 hours from Managua International Airport. Your retreat package includes roundtrip airport transfer pick-up at 2 pm and 9 pm.

    Will I be able to withdraw cash easily?

    Amaru is located in a very remote area of Northern Nicaragua. There is no ATM immediately accessible. it is recommended to travel with cash from your location of origin. Credit card payments are accepted at Amaru with a 6% additional service charge.

    What will the weather be like when I host my retreat?

    The dry season runs from November to April, bring of sun protection!

    What will the surf conditions be like during my retreat?

    We have world-class surf breaks for any level, the month of March offers a calmer ocean and better conditions for beginners.

    What is the local nightlife like?

    There is not much nightlife or shopping around Amaru, but there are local community events and activities available that can be organized upon request.

    IMPORTANT REMINDER:

    Your passport must be valid for a minimum of 6+ months after your arrival to Nicaragua.

  • CANCELLATION POLICY

    • Cancellation 60 days or more prior the first day of the retreat: guest receives a full refund, less the non refundable $500 deposit and processing fees ($50).

    • Cancellation 40-60 days prior the first day of the retreat: guest receives a full credit to be applied towards a future retreat or Sundara Yoga Store (on our website which includes Class Pass and memberships) less the non refundable $500 deposit and processing fees ($50). A credit resulting from cancellation of the retreat expires after 6 months from your cancellation date.

    • Cancellation 0-40 days days prior the first day of the retreat: no refunds or credits will be given

    • There will be no refunds for arriving late or leaving early. There are no exceptions to the above cancellation policies including personal injuries or weather.

    CANCELLATION BY SUNDARA YOGA

    We reserve the right to cancel the retreat up the 60 days before the scheduled retreat start date. In this scenario, the client will receive a complete refund paid to Sundara Yoga.

    In addition, we reserve the right to cancel the retreat at any time due to natural disaster or other disruptions and/or circumstances beyond our control where the operating of the retreat would be unsafe or otherwise unviable. In this scenario if the retreat is cancelled due to circumstance beyond our control, the client will receive a complete refund paid to Sundara Yoga.
