Methodology

The methodology for this training is inspired by the Krishnamacharya lineage and incorporates teaching tools derived from both the
Iyengar and Ashtanga styles.

From the Iyengar style, we follow:

• Guidelines for functional alignment
• The use of props to support and enliven the expression of the pose;
• Clear and sensible sequencing.

From the Ashtanga style, we follow:

• Our practice as a moving meditation
• The use of Ujjayi Breath as a tool for mindfulness and focus
• The incorporation of sun salutations and vinyasa to create a flow-style practice.

From our more contemporary awareness:

• We teach with inclusivity, accessibility, and body positivity.
• We also commit to holding the scope of a yoga teacher’s professional and ethical role including to be of greater service
for our community and in the world.

Curriculum

    • Fully embrace the principles of advanced asana through the biomechanics of alignment, physiology of movement, applied anatomy, postural analysis, and empowered adjustments.

    • The practice of breathwork awakens the life force and opens the door to profound meditation. Deepen your knowledge and gain mastery in teaching pranayama and explore the philosophy that gave birth to these techniques in a training designed to revitalize your physical and energetic bodies.

  • Yoga teaches us that the pursuit of inner stillness is actually enhanced by periods of physical activity. As you sink into meditation, asana becomes a tool to embody higher awareness.

  • Great teaching comes from experience. Witness the evolution of your teaching as you cultivate your voice, dive into self-study and explore your own teaching style.

  • Examine the history of yoga, explore the Ashtanga, Iyengar, and Vinyasa lineages, and bridge the gap between the timeless wisdom of the ancients and modern day yoga.

  • This is an opportunity to learn corrective, supportive, deepening, and directional assists for a wide range of poses. You will learn the foundational skills of "reading" bodies and assisting students with confidence.

  • Ayurveda a living science derived from ancient Vedic wisdom and deeply rooted in nature. Ayurveda’s offers a profound key to understanding each person’s unique body, mind, and consciousness.

  • Deepen your skills and increase your appeal to students who want to experience an intentional and mindful approach to vinyasa yoga. Learn to create intelligent, innovative sequences and establish powerful philosophical themes that support your students both on and off the mat, infusing your teaching with power, purpose, and heart.

  • A unique approach to teaching Anatomy through the principles of Tom Myers, Anatomy Trains. You will develop an appreciation and understanding of the kinetic chain which is an integral perspective of anatomy, prioritizing relationships and connections.

Also applying those principles through Therapeutic Ball Rolling: the intersection between Applied Anatomy and Manual Therapy.

  • Exploring and engaging with the subtle body is a a means to self-understanding that leads to self-exploration and transformation. The subtle body is primarily composed of a complex network of nadis, the chakras and also linked to the five Koshas. The study of subtle anatomy allows potential for spiritual awakening, and the ability to positively impact the world around you.

  • Apply effective tactics for using yoga therapeutically. Gain skills to assess, adapt, and support individual injuries and specialized populations of students including: Chair Yoga, Prenatal Yoga and Kids Yoga.

  • Experience the evolution of your teaching as you are placed in real teaching environments in the wider community, allowing you to perfect your craft experientially and witness its impact.

  • Prepare yourself for a career of balance and longevity as you explore the nuances of sustainable teaching and the business-side of teaching yoga.

  • This deep dive builds upon awareness and conceptualization of cultural dynamics within the yoga industry, and extends toward practical application building an inclusive and equitable practice context.
