Class Descriptions

Yoga

  • Learn correct form, and move through a variety of simple poses and sequences that will help increase flexibility, energize the body and calm the mind. Gentle yoga is perfect for those who have never done yoga before or even for those who have practiced but want to revisit a gentler, accessible style of yoga. Mats and props are provided.

  • The pace of this class is slower with emphasis placed on alignment. Through intelligent sequencing of yoga postures and focus on connecting movement with breath — you will gradually develop strength and flexibility. This is the perfect place to start exploring a yoga practice. You will be introduced to asana (postures), pranayama (breathing techniques) and meditation. All Levels welcome.

  • This class is dynamic and energetic with purposeful sequencing and alignment cues. You will build strength, flexibility and concentration. In this class, breath is linked with movement to cultivate presence and deeper interoceptive awareness. Explore intermediate postures with the option of modifications and wind down with restorative elements. This class is aimed at seasoned beginners and regular practitioners. Get ready to take your practice seriously, but yourself lightly.

  • Ashtanga vinyasa is rooted in the classical ashtanga vinyasa system, the class is based on the ashtanga primary series with some variations to help you grow in your practice. Mike will guide you through the traditional Ashtanga series with occasional variations to help you grow and support your practice. This class aims at developing strength, flexibility, agility, and most importantly a clear, calm and focused mind. All levels welcome.

  • Vinyasa and Yin Yoga are a powerful pairing; the seamless flow of vinyasa helps to invigorate the body and prepares the mind for the more contemplative experience of a yin practice.  Each class will ease into an all-levels vinyasa flow to build heat and strengthen the body, then gently wind down with deeper stretches combined with breath work and longer holds. We hope you will leave feeling calm, peaceful and balanced.

  • Yin is a still, patient practice that will surprise you with its profound effects. In this class, you will be guided into seated and reclined postures to be held for 3-5 minutes. These longer holds stimulate the deep connective tissues surrounding our joints and ligaments, thereby increasing mobility, stability and overall vitality. Yin postures also generate a loosening of deep energetic stagnations, allowing us to experience a greater sense of balance, flow and calm. This class is a perfect compliment to more active styles of yoga or exercise, and is open to all levels. This class is also appropriate for pre/post-natal students.

  • Aerial Yoga / AntiGravity Yoga is a relatively new approach to a traditional yoga practice.  We use a silk fabric called a ‘hammock’ or ‘swing’ to support the weight of our bodies, helping us achieve various postures with more depth, ease and excitement.  By relieving 20-80% of body weight, the hammock allows students to rapidly increase their flexibility while improving balance and core strength. In doing so, students are able to reach more advanced yoga poses if desired, like inversions, offering drastic improvements in health and vitality in a short amount of time. In addition, the swings are used as “wraps” on our bodies that gently massage and stimulate various acupressure meridians of the body.  An overall detox effect can be experienced and felt by practitioners.

  • Join us for a playful vinyasa flow class! You can expect a focused warm-up to ignite & initiate our practice, followed by a dynamic asana flow to build heat & stability. There will be ample opportunities to dive more deeply within and safely explore new challenges. And as always, the class is rounded out with a generous wind down to carry you into a well-deserved savasana.

  • Kundalini yoga is a dynamic, unique, and self-realizing practice that weaves together mantra, mudra, asana, breathwork, and meditation. Kundalini yoga promotes mental clarity, nervous system regulation, a calm mind, and an open heart.

Barre

  • Barre is a low-impact class that combines exercises from pilates, barre fitness and classical strength training. This class utilizes light weights, the barre and the mat to help strengthen and tone your muscles, improve your posture and increase your cardiovascular endurance. We move in unison to the pace of upbeat music to create a fun and safe workout environment. Because of the low-impact nature of this class, it is accessible to even the most beginner students, even those working with injuries or movement impairments. Your muscles will shake, you may sweat and you will feel improvements in your range of motion and posture. This all-level class is a great compliment to any level of yoga practice.

Family & Perinatal

  • Prenatal/Postnatal yoga is a place to safely modify and adapt your practice for a changing body. It is also very common for pregnancy or postpartum to be a perfect opportunity to explore yoga for the very first time! The class will create a safe and open community that will allow you to freely discuss the new changes your body and your baby are experiencing during this very special time. This program will help strengthen the uterus and pelvic muscles, improve circulation, aid in digestion, exercise the spine and increase your overall comfort.

  • Join us for this playful exploration of yoga. This is a great way to spend time with your child, meet other parents, and help your child expend some energy. This class is appropriate for those who just want to have some fun and enjoy a light-hearted approach to practicing yoga as a family. Join us to celebrate animals and nature, explore the breath and sound, and enjoy some partner yoga. Families, friends and yoga buddies of all ages are welcome.

  • Parent and Baby Yoga focuses on strengthening the spiritual, emotional, and physical bond between parent (or caregiver) and child. Using interactive, slow-moving postures, the class is ideal for adults and babies newborn to crawling. The class also includes infant massage and various exercises that assist the development of your child’s motor skills. Parent and Baby will help carry you through the busy early months of caring for a new baby and help you build your community and connection with other parents. Please note that we are a one-flight walk up, and someone is always at the studio to help you carry your stroller or can also be left at the bottom of the stairs.

Didn’t use up all of your perinatal passes during your prenatal yoga session? Unexpired perinatal passes carry over to parent and baby yoga.
